It's an emergency!
It's an emergency!
Do you ever have a bad day? Ever wake up on the wrong side of bed? Do you sometimes feel lethargic, low or just plain sad?
We all do from time to time. And when you are in that kind of mood it can be difficult to see things clearly.
However, you can be prepared. One idea is to put together an emergency kit for such occasions. In this kit (maybe a box or draw in your filing cabinet) you put a range of items that have the effect of reminding you about the good times and the people that care about you.
Ideas:
Letters or copies of emails that make you smile, photographs, aromatherapy oils, a list of activities that you really enjoy (reading a book, watching a favourite film, taking a walk, listening to a particular CD…you decide!), your personal mission statement or even a square of chocolate if you are so inclined!
Every time you have that feeling, you'll find something in your emergency kit to remind you of what's really important.
Motivation Tip - Creating a Success File
Along the same lines if you, or someone who works for you, is de-motivated, creating a "success file" can help to spark renewed enthusiasm.
When you help your staff to create such a file you show them that you recognise their efforts. When you create one for yourself it will remind you of your strengths and the fact that people really do acknowledge them.
Appreciative comments and letters, a note of the positive things your colleagues have said, a great appraisal or a reminder of anything you are particularly proud of can go in to this file.
